What are "strong" academic results?

Successful applicants in the past have generally presented HKCEE results (or equivalent) with 4 or more 'A' grades, and a mix of As and Bs in their predicted HKALE results. Successful EAS-eligible Form 6 applicants have shown 8 or more A grades. International Baccalaureate applicants have generally presented predicted scores in the high 30s and low 40s. Note: these figures are offered as a guide, and lower results will be considered if the applicant shows other examples of personal excellence or community service.

What is "financial need"?

The Hong Kong Scholarships are intended for students who do not have the family financial resources to study outside of Hong Kong. However, the scholarships cover only a portion of the full cost of study at the University of Toronto. Applicants must be able to pay for the balance of education costs. For reference, the total 2008/2009 education costs (tuition, residence, meals, books, local transport, health insurance and other expenses) at the University of Toronto were estimated at C$36,000 to $46,000 depending on program and residence. Full details at: Cost of Living.
