About the U of T Hong Kong Scholarships

The University of Toronto (Hong Kong) Foundation offers four scholarships annually to Hong Kong permanent residents (with no citizenship in any other country) with strong academic results, personal initiatives & community leadership, financial need, and a genuine interest in living abroad. Application is open to students who have completed or are completing the HKALE, HKDSE, IB or equivalent. Successful applicants to the Hong Kong Scholarships automatic receive admission to the undergraduate program of their choice at the University of Toronto. The value of the Hong Kong Scholarship range from C$13,000 to $22,000 per year. All awards are renewable for the 4 years of an undergraduate bachelors degree at the University of Toronto. The Hong Kong Scholarships are among the largest undergraduate scholarships offered at the University of Toronto, and are intended to help families with financial need to partially meet the cost of a University of Toronto education. In 2011/2012, total education costs (tuition, residence, meals, books, local transport, health insurance and other expenses) at the University of Toronto were estimated at C$40,000 to $46,000 depending on program and residence. A single application to the University of Toronto Hong Kong Scholarships makes applicants eligible for up to three different types of scholarship:

University of Toronto (Hong Kong) Foundation Scholarship

One Foundation Scholarship is offered each year to an exceptional Hong Kong student who has strong financial need. The scholarship has a value of CDN$22,000 per annum renewable each year for a 4-year Bachelors degree in any discipline.

Dr. Cheng Yu-tung Scholarships

Dr. Cheng Yu-tung generously endowed this scholarship program for talented students who have financial need. Two scholarships are offered per year, each valued at CDN$20,000 per annum for the four years of an undergraduate degree in any discipline.

Fung Yiu King Memorial Commerce Scholarship

Dr. Patrick Y.B. Fung and family generously endowed this scholarship for excellent Hong Kong students who have financial need to pursue studies in Commerce at the University of Toronto. One scholarship is awarded each year, which carries a value of CDN$13,000 during the first year and CDN$20,000 per annum in the higher years.
